Why use a doula?

“If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it”

– John Kennel

“Knowledge is power”

– Francis Bacon

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”

– Alice Walker
Doulas DO NOT advocate!

They do something far better! They teach and empower YOU to advocate for yourself!

What is a doula?

A doula is a labor support professional who is dedicated to supporting the birthing person’s physical and emotional needs during pregnancy and childbirth.

During pregnancy, doulas can help parents navigate their options, determine their priorities, feel confident and in control.

Doulas are also trained in non-medicated comfort measures and will stay by your side throughout your delivery.

Why should you hire a doula?

Women who have continuous support during labor are

  • 28% less likely to have a cesarean section
  • 31% less likely to use synthetic oxytocin to speed labor
  • 9% less likely to use any pain medication
  • 34% less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively
