Birth Doula

Every family deserves a doula

Hi, I’m TaKiesha! This is exactly where I am supposed to be, and this is exactly what I was made to do!

Who am I?

Hi! I’m TaKiesha Smith, a mom of two with a great passion for birth, education and advocacy. Even before I knew the title, doula, I was supporting births (25 years and counting). As your future doula, I would be honored to take care of you during this transformative stage of your life. Part of my preparation to better support you was to earn my DONA certification as a doula.

My hope is to provide personalized, supportive, and empowering care to you and your family during your pregnancy, labor and delivery.

I am a great listener and want to get to know your needs and wishes for your birth experience.

My Values & Beliefs

Every labor is natural labor

Whether your labor is medically supported or not, all forms of birth are natural.  If you give birth in a birthing pool or at a hospital, you deserve to be supported.

Knowledge is Power

Every birthing person should be informed, every step of the way, during their pregnancy journey. From the 1st trimester to the 4th, having a doula helps to have the questions you need to ask, answered.

Active not passive participation

Labor is not something that happens to you, but a process that you are actively pursuing to bring a new life into the world. You have the power in the room and my job is to help you leverage it.

What is a Doula?

A doula is a labor support professional who is dedicated to supporting the birthing person’s physical and emotional needs during pregnancy and childbirth. During pregnancy, doulas can help parents navigate their options, determine their priorities, feel confident and in control.

Doulas are also trained in non-medicated comfort measures and will stay by your side throughout your delivery.
