Education, confidence, and advocacy for your pregnancy, birth, & postpartum.
BIRTH & POSTPARTUM SUPPORT
Welcome, we're so glad you're here.
While birth can be empowering , many walk into it underprepared, overwhelmed, and unsure how to advocate for themselves in a system that doesn’t always listen.

We're here to ensure everyone has a safe, informed, and empowered birth experience.

Through education, preparation, and advocacy, we'll help you feel steady, confident, and in control before you ever step into the delivery room.
How We Support You Before, During, and Post-Birth
We believe knowledge is power.

That’s why we focus on education, realistic planning, and honest conversations that consider every possible scenario.
We'll equip you to make informed decisions if your birth plan should go off course, and we'll be there to advocate for you when you need it most.

Our Care Methodology
01.
Preparation for the long haul
Birth is a marathon, and we train you for every stage, not just the finish line.
02.
Clear, practical education
We break down the how, what, and why of what you're experiencing so you remain informed and in control throughout your journey.
03.
Inclusive, specialized support
No two pregnancy journeys are the same. We offer thoughtful, individualized care (especially for neurodivergent clients and BIPOC families) so everyone feels safe and supported.
04.
We support your partner, too
Partners are never sidelined. We teach them how to support you throughout pregnancy and how to show up with confidence for both you and your baby during and after birth.
05.
We keep you grounded in reality
Birth doesn’t always follow the plan, and that’s okay. We help you prepare for every potential scenario so you can move through them with confidence instead of fear.
06.
We keep our focus on you
We intentionally serve a limited number of families at a time so we can give you our full, undivided attention.
What Our Clients Are Saying
My daughter could not have made a better choice in a doula, I will forever be grateful.
I was thrilled with the caring service that TaKeisha provided for my daughter before, during and after delivery. She originally had not planned to have a doula during delivery. Her labor and delivery turned out to be complicated and TaKeisha was there to help her through the process and help her make the best choices for her.

What Our Clients Are Saying
The lactation coaching and support she provided was phenomenal.
I had a wonderful lactation experience with TaKiesha. She helped manage my expectations about breastfeeding, and taught me how to properly use all of my pump equipment. Her bottle recommendations for my little girl were spot on. She has continued to provide excellent support as I returned to work and needed some assistance with maintaining my supply. With her support I am confident that I’ll reach all my breastfeeding goals.

What Our Clients Are Saying
We have an amazing birth story to share that we will carry with us forever.
We are thankful and blessed that we were able to work with TaKiesha during our birth. She was able to coach us through what to expect during the entire process….a natural birth was really important to us and she helped accomplish this.

What Our Clients Are Saying
Three months postpartum and I still sing her praises!
My active labor was less than an hour, unmedicated, and this was my first kid. TaKiesha advocated for my needs with my treatment team and adapted to the rapid changes in my labor. I was in pain, angry, and she took control and helped us all through it all. She noticed I started pushing before the nurses and advocated for me to get them to take my labor seriously and get ready to catch. The nurses did not want to believe that I went from 4cm to 10cm in less than 30 minutes and Takiesha would not allow them to minimize my pain! Once I made it to the delivery room I put my last bit of trust and energy into Takiesha, got on my hands and knees as she instructed, and pushed my baby boy out in 7 minutes. I had 10+ staff in the room because of how fast everything was happening but Takiesha was truly the only one I needed. She helped my son latch so effortlessly and the at-home follow-up care was amazing. She’s so supportive and wonderful and knows what she’s doing. She explained everything in an approachable non-judgmental way that left me feeling confident and ready for every stage of labor, delivery, and breastfeeding. When it’s time for baby #2, she will be my doula.

What Our Clients Are Saying
TaKiesha is the absolute best!
TaKiesha was there for me and my husband prior to, during, and after labor. She took the time to properly educate us on all of our options and advocated for me the entire time I was in the hospital. I had many complications and TaKiesha was amazing and encouraging every step of the way!

What Our Clients Are Saying
After experiencing my first birth with a doula, I am not going back.
TaKiesha is AMAZING! I believe all first time moms definitely need a doula and she is excellent. She was helpful and a calming presence. She definitely was a huge part of making the birth of our daughter so successful. All births are different and all are unpredictable, but she was able to educate us and help us through any unexpected ups and downs. If I could give more than 5 stars, I definitely would. If you are considering a doula, DO IT! If you are looking at who to hire, look no further than TaKiesha.

What Our Clients Are Saying
We had a 27hr unmedicated vaginal birth to a 9lbs baby boy and I couldn’t have don’t it without her.
I cannot put accurately into words how great of an impact TaKiesha had in my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. What immediately stood out to us was her commitment to not only educate and support the mother but also her commitment to helping the father understand their role in the birth process.
She stuck with us through it all and helped us stick to our birth plan. TaKiesha is an amazing doula and we will rave about her for the rest of our lives!

What Our Clients Are Saying
She was a strong advocate that pushed for myself and my baby to get the best care possible.
TaKiesha was the perfect doula for us. I can say without a doubt that I wouldn’t have wanted to go through the whole process without her guidance.
Everything she does comes from evidence based research, and she really knows what she’s doing! I felt that with her help I was fully educated and as mentally prepared as I possibly could have been going into labor. I can’t thank her enough!

A Note for Our BIPOC Community
We See You. We Hear You. We Are Here For You.
For Black, Indigenous, and people of color, birth often comes with added layers of risk, fear, and dismissal.
This is especially true in our home state of Indiana, which ranks 3rd in the nation for maternal mortality. We don’t shy away from that reality, we challenge it.
We are committed to your safety through:
-
Clear education around patient rights and informed consent
-
Strong, steady advocacy during labor and delivery
-
Care that prioritizes safety, dignity, and respect
Birth is one of the most vulnerable moments in our lives. You deserve to feel safe, informed, and protected, and we’re here to make that a reality.

Hi, I'm TaKiesha
I’m a DONA-certified doula, certified lactation counselor, birth educator, advocate, and a mother of two.
Having lived through a traumatic, near-miss birth myself, I understand firsthand how vital advocacy, preparation, and feeling valued and heard can be. That experience deeply shapes how I support and advocate for the families I serve.

With a background in education and 25+ years of experience walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, my approach is calm, direct, and centered on real preparation.

I would be honored to take care of you during this transformative stage of your life!

Neuro Spicy Birth
Neurodivergent-Affirming Birth Training for Doulas & Birth Professionals
Neurodivergent families deserve birth support that understands them, not care that asks them to mask, adapt, or fit into systems that weren’t built with their needs in mind.

Through Neuro Spicy Birth, TaKiesha Smith trains doulas and birth professionals to provide informed, affirming, and adaptable care.
As a DONA-certified doula and neurodivergent educator herself, she brings both lived experience and expertise to supporting the unique communication, sensory, and processing needs that can arise during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
